History of the scarf
The scarf that is presented to each Joey, Cub, Scout or Venturer
upon their investiture is of great significance.
The scarf is a triangular piece of white sail- cloth with an anchor
emblem on the apex. The scarf is edged with a navy blue trim. The sail- cloth reminds us that we are Sea Scouts and as such we
have the greatest respect for the natural environment; with a special
emphasis on the area of water.
We remember that we do not own
the waterways but merely enjoy what they have to offer.
The sail-cloth is white. The white reminds us all that a scout is pure
in thought, word, and deed.
The blue edging reminds us of the horizon. This gives each of us a
direction to travel and a far-reaching sight upon which to base our
achievements, both within and outside the Scouting movement.
The anchor reminds us that we have a safe haven waiting for us
and that we have a strong base that will hold us steady on the path
of life. |
